Inventory verification.

An independent count and condition check of goods wherever they sit, reconciled to the record item by item. Every variance reported in writing, for the party relying on the answer.

In practice
How it works

How verification works.

  1. 01We agree the scope in writing: which goods, against which record, at which location, to what level of detail, and who receives the report.
  2. 02On site, we count and check condition against the record. Serialized goods are matched by serial or certificate number. Bulk goods are counted by SKU and lot, with a sample checked for condition.
  3. 03Every difference is recorded with a photograph: on the record but not on the shelf, on the shelf but not on the record, wrong quantity, wrong condition.
  4. 04The report is issued to the party who engaged us, and to anyone they name, the day the count ends. It says what we checked and what we found.

Verification report

What was counted, against which record, by which method, and every difference found. Signed by two people. It says what exists and in what condition. It never says what it is worth.

Per day on site plus travel at cost for one-time counts. Monthly for recurring confirmations to lenders and investors.

The detail
The controls within this serviceOpen
  • Two people on every count: one counts, the second confirms, both sign.
  • Serialized goods matched one by one to the record. Bulk goods counted by SKU and lot, with the sample size stated on the report.
  • Condition checked to a written standard agreed before we arrive, with photographs of every exception.
  • The record we counted against is fixed and dated before the count starts, so no one can move the target.
Questions we are askedOpen
Is this an audit?
No. An audit is an accountant's opinion on financial statements. This is a physical count and condition check against a record, signed by two people, with every variance reported.
Do you tell us what the inventory is worth?
Never. We state what exists and in what condition. Value is your advisor's opinion to give.
Can you work at the seller's or borrower's warehouse?
Yes. Most verifications happen where the goods already sit, on a date the parties agree.
The boundaries of this serviceOpen

We offer no opinion on value or authenticity, never act for both sides of a transaction, and never adjust a count. The variances found are the report.
