How to check a Beckett (BGS) cert
Look the number on the Beckett label up on Beckett’s own card lookup, then match the record to the slab in hand: the card, the grade, the subgrades and the label.
The short answer
Type the number from the Beckett label into Beckett’s own grading card lookup, beckett.com/grading/card-lookup. Beckett’s record should match the slab in front of you: the card, the grade and, where the label shows them, the subgrades.
A match tells you Beckett graded that card under that number. It does not tell you who holds the card now or where it has been since.
Step by step
- 01Find the number. The number is printed on the Beckett label. Enter it exactly as printed, leading zeros included.
- 02Open Beckett’s page yourself. Type beckett.com/grading/card-lookup into the browser and enter the number. If the page opens without your number, type it into the lookup box.
- 03Match every field. The card, the set, the final grade and each subgrade where the label shows them. One field that differs is enough to stop and ask.
- 04Keep the result. Save the lookup with the date you made it, with photographs of the slab front and back.
- 05If the lookup is down. Beckett’s websites went offline on 9 September 2026, and its cert lookup came back on 15 October, as reported at the time. If the lookup cannot be reached, write down that the cert could not be checked and the date you tried, and look it up again once it is back.
What this check does not prove
- Who holds the card now. A cert records the card and the grade on the day it was graded. It says nothing about who has held the card since, or how it got to the seller.
- That the slab in hand is the one graded. The lookup checks a number. A label can be printed to copy a real one, so the card, the label and any images on the record have to match the slab in front of you.
- What the card is worth. A grade is not a price. The lookup says nothing about value, and neither does this guide.
- Ownership. A matching record does not show who owns the card or whether the seller can pass title to it. That is a question for the seller, in writing.
