A GameStop pack can hold a watch, and the terms say who vouches for it

GameStop's Power Packs terms, edited 29 October 2026, say a pack may hold a graded card, a watch or another collectible. For a watch, the terms say PowerPacks does not authenticate it and sets its value itself.

In brief

GameStop's launch release described Power Packs as digital packs that unlock PSA-graded trading cards, held in the PSA Vault. The PowerPacks Terms of Purchase, which show a last-edited date of 29 October 2026, also cover more. Section 2(a) says a pack holds one item that may be a graded card, a watch or another collectible. Section 2(b) says all pack sales are final. The Sale Agreement, edited 23 October 2026, offers a buyer a saleback to PowerPacks within 7 days at a displayed price, less a surcharge whose amount the agreement does not state. Net proceeds are credited to a wallet within three business days. Section 2(d) of the terms says wallet funds are not insured, and a cash payout needs a linked Stripe account.

For a card, the terms point to a PSA cert and to Card Ladder for the value. For a watch, they say something different. Section 2(c)(v) says each watch is authenticated by an independent third party before it goes in a pack, and that PowerPacks does not itself authenticate it. Section 2(c)(iv) says no independent pricing service sets a watch's value: PowerPacks sets it in its sole discretion. The terms name neither the authenticator nor the vault arrangement for watches, and they say papers and box may or may not come with the watch. Two dated readings frame the wider market. The 10-year Treasury yield was 5.05% on 28 October 2026, US Treasury data show. Consumer prices were 3.7% higher in September 2026 than a year earlier, BLS data show.

What it turns on

  • Who vouches depends on the item. A card carries a PSA cert. A watch carries an unnamed third party's determination, which the terms say PowerPacks does not itself stand behind.
  • The price of a watch is set in house. Section 2(c)(iv) says watch values come from PowerPacks' own methods, not an independent pricing service, and may change without notice.
  • The way out has a surcharge and a clock. The saleback window is up to 7 days. The surcharge is deducted from the displayed price, and the agreement gives no figure for it.

What we do about it

  1. 01Record the serial and reference. For a watch, the brand, model reference and serial number, photographed at the pull before anything else happens to it.
  2. 02Record who authenticated it. The name of the authenticator and the date of the report, kept with the record. The terms name none.
  3. 03Record how the value was set. The method behind the displayed value, and the date it was shown, so a later sale can be set against it.
  4. 04Record the box, papers and chain of custody. Whether the original box and papers exist, who holds the watch between the pull and delivery, and who signs for it at each hand-off.
